About Matthew

Hello Coaches, my name is Matthew Galang, Class of 2029, and I am a Defensive Back at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. I chose Santa Margarita because of its incredible legacy in both academics and athletics, but also because attending a Catholic school is deeply important to me and my family. From my grandparents on down, my family has attended Catholic school, and continuing that tradition while competing at the highest level made Santa Margarita the perfect fit. On the field, I am fast and physical and I trust my reactions to put me in the right position when it matters most. I am comfortable in man coverage, zone coverage, press man and off coverage. I love this game, the crowd, the atmosphere, the big moments. That energy doesn't pressure me, it brings out the best in me. Away from the field I work with a track coach to develop my speed and athleticism, and I train with our DB coach outside of practice to continue sharpening my skills at the position. I am always looking for ways to get better and I will never be outworked.
